Vietnam is slowly exploring its potential for toursits especially along its eastern coastline, from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). From the hundreds of picturesque islands within Halong Bay to the towns of Hoi An, Hue, Ddanang and Nha Trang up to Mekong Delta; they all offer their own attractions and are popular tourist destinations. With many traveling to Vietnam, it is now easy to book hotels in Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An and even get discounts on hotels in Da Nang if you’re looking for long term stays.

Nha Trang is with Hon Mun Island, Vietnam's primary scuba destination and one of the best locations inside the South China Sea. Just to the north is Van Phuong Bay with Whale Island slightly more thrilling and known as it was the place where Jacques Cousteau explored Vietnam's underwater world for the first time. The small archipelago of Con Dao Islands is found at 180km offshore one of Vietnam's southern most points. Being this remote and hard to reach makes it one of the best dive locations in Vietnam, famous for its large population of green and hawksbill turtles. Near the border of Cambodia is Vietnam's largest island Phu Quoc with the An Thoi Archipelago situated in the south.

Scuba diving along the east coast is best in Vietnam's dry season from March till August, typhoon season runs from August to December. Inside the Gulf at Phu Quoc it is best to dive between Nov and June. Its tropical waters are clear, warm with excellent coral and plenty of critters; most indo-pacific species can be spotted. You can find frogfish, seahorses, nudibranches and leaf scorpionfish. There even are plains of seagrass with dugongs and places where whale sharks migrate. It is a great country to go to with excellent snorkeling and scuba diving.
